Merchant Broken Window Reimbursement Program

The Dimond Improvement Association (DIA) and Dimond Merchants Association (DMA) realize that it’s tough for merchants in Oakland. The level of crime that merchants have endured has been unreasonable, and we want to help in the best way we can. To that end, in 2024 we instituted a program to help businesses whose windows have been broken as a result of vandalism and burglary.

The DIA and DMA are jointly reimbursing Dimond businesses any out-of-pocket costs of broken windows up to $1,000 per crime. If your business is within the boundaries of the map below, you are eligible. Reimbursements will be distributed until the budgeted funds for the current fiscal year (April 1-March 31) are depleted. Each business is eligible to use the program once in the fiscal year.

We wish to make this as simple for you as possible. If your storefront has had windows broken because of a crime, please email the required information below to DIA@dimondnews.org.

  • Name and title of the applicant
  • Copy of the police report (from an OPD officer or online form)
